Child Safety Standards
1. Zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE)
Whatcha strictly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind. This includes, without limitation:
- creating, uploading, sharing, requesting or linking to sexual or sexualised content involving anyone under 18, including drawn, generated or edited material;
- grooming: contacting, befriending or manipulating a minor for sexual purposes, or asking a minor for images, meetings or personal contact details;
- sextortion, trafficking, or any content or behaviour that sexualises, endangers or exploits children;
- using diaries, groups, messages, comments, the exchange-diary board or any other feature to find, contact or exploit minors.
Whatcha is not a dating service. Features that connect people who do not already know each other (the exchange-diary board) are limited to users who confirm they are 18 or older and verify a phone number, and seeking romantic or sexual contact there is prohibited.
2. How to report
- In the app: use “Report” on any entry, diary, exchange-diary post or application, or user profile. Reports go to our moderation team. You can also block any user; blocks also prevent them from reaching you through new accounts on the same phone number.
- By email: write to our child safety contact (below). Please include a link or description of the content and, if possible, the username or pen name involved. Do not send copies of abusive images.
- If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency services first.
3. What we do
- We review reports of CSAE as our highest priority and remove violating content as soon as we become aware of it.
- We permanently ban accounts involved in CSAE, and act against the same person’s other accounts.
- We preserve relevant information and report apparent CSAM and child exploitation to the competent authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement in the relevant country (in Germany, the Bundeskriminalamt / local police), as required by applicable law.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
4. Compliance with child safety laws
Whatcha complies with applicable child safety laws and regulations, including obligations to report child sexual abuse material to the authorities. These standards are part of our Terms of Service; using Whatcha in breach of them ends your right to use the service.
